» BNDES repurchases PIBB quotas until July 27

The investors that purchased Bovespa Securities Index 50 [PIBB] quotas last year may exercise the resale option of securities to BNDES, between today, June 28, and next July 27. The repurchase commitment, assumed by BNDES when it launched the investment fund, was an attraction to stimulate small investors to enter the stock market. It anticipated the resale of the quotas after one year of settlement of the operation, to protect the investor against negative fluctuations. The positive evolution of PIBB's profitability may be checked at the electronic address www.pibb.com.br.

The official communication on the resale option period was published today by BNDES, after the file with the Brazilian Securities Commission [CVM]. In accordance with the established at the fund launching, BNDES will repurchase PIBB quotas up to a quantity corresponding to a maximum of R$ 25 thousand. The investor wishing to exercise the option should go to the agent he made the purchase and fill out a form. The payment will be made within three business days counted from the sales option's maturity date.

BNDES has considered successful the PIBB launching operation performed in 2004. The retail offer reached over 25 thousand small investors, which bought R$ 304 million from the total offered, R$ 600 million. The remaining offer was acquired by institutional investors, which are large investors. BNDES believes that to strengthen the stock market is a priority for the country to have more productive investments, making the Brazilian economy more dynamic. With such purpose, new actions are planned by BNDES, mainly to make equity investments accessible to small investors, democratizing the access to such form of investment.
